LAHORE: Pakistani firm Roomi Poultry Ltd, the flagship entity of Iqbal Group of Companies, has achieved a major export breakthrough by sending Pakistan’s first consignment of table eggs to the US, expanding the country’s footprint in premium food markets.

This has not only generated the significant revenue of $2.37 million for the company but has also opened doors for Pakistani eggs to penetrate the profitable US market.

This also underscores Roomi Poultry’s trailblazing position in the nation’s poultry sector. In 2013, the company took the bold step of launching Pakistan’s first internationally certified, food-safety-compliant egg production facility. This strategy has allowed Roomi Poultry to satisfy the rigorous standards of global markets, including the US.

The company’s inventive methods in poultry farming and egg production have yielded results, with Pakistan’s egg and liquid-egg exports reaching $18.25 million in FY 2024-25, reflecting an increase of nearly 30 per cent from the prior year. The US has now emerged as one of the key markets for Pakistani eggs, alongside the UAE, Hong Kong, Bahrain, Kuwait and Somalia.

Roomi Poultry’s achievement is anticipated to positively influence the country’s economy and inspire other local enterprises to seek new markets and opportunities.“This is a game changer for Pakistan’s agri exports,” said Mohsin Khawaja, CEO of Iqbal Group. “Our decade-long focus on biosecurity and traceable logistics is paying off globally.” Director International Business Julien Sleutjes added that success in a high-standard market like the US validates Pakistan’s competitiveness and opens doors for long-term international partnerships.Industry experts see this as the start of Pakistan’s entry into the global protein supply chain.
