Access to reliable health information has become a growing priority for women, especially in communities where awareness and early screening remain limited. Digital tools have increasingly played a role in closing this gap by offering simple, accessible guidance that can reach women where traditional systems often fall short. Pakistan’s leading digital microfinance institution has introduced the ‘Bibi App’, a breast cancer awareness platform aimed at supporting women through localised and accessible health education. The initiative has been developed by Aangan, a women’s reproductive health startup incubated under Mobilink Bank’s Women Inspirational Network (WIN) Incubator.
The launch event in Islamabad brought together diplomats, policymakers, healthcare experts, development stakeholders and industry leaders, highlighting collective support for improved women’s health awareness and early breast cancer detection efforts. Health experts note that one in nine women in Pakistan faces the risk of breast cancer, making it the most common cancer among women in the country. The app addresses barriers such as stigma and delayed diagnosis by offering verified information in Urdu and English, reviewed by Shifa International Hospital.
Designed for women aged 18–55 across urban, peri-urban and semi-rural communities, the application aims to improve health literacy and encourage early detection practices. It provides simple educational resources to strengthen preventive care and informed decision-making.
The initiative reflects a broader push toward women-led innovation in Pakistan’s digital ecosystem, with incubation programmes supporting multiple startups focused on social impact and economic empowerment.
Speaking at the launch, Haaris Mahmood Chaudhary, President and CEO of Mobilink Bank, said: “True empowerment begins with access, not only to finance but to knowledge, care and the ability to make informed decisions. Through the Bibi App, we have used digital innovation to break barriers around women’s health, increase awareness of early detection and ensure that essential health information reaches women in a simple and accessible way. It is designed to reach women across urban, peri-urban and rural areas, especially those with limited access to healthcare services and awareness resources. It also supports early screening habits and encourages families to talk more openly about breast cancer, reducing stigma and delay in diagnosis across communities nationwide today efforts continue.”
Through its WIN programme, Mobilink Bank continues to support women-led innovation and scalable solutions addressing key social and economic challenges faced by women in Pakistan.
