Spotify is rolling out new tools and real-world experiences in Pakistan, signalling a dual focus on artist control and community-driven engagement.

potify, the world’s largest audio streaming platform, has been busy. Its latest move is introducing Artist Profile Protection, an optional feature currently available in a limited beta format that allows musicians to review and approve releases before they appear on their Spotify profiles. The move addresses a long-standing issue in the streaming era where songs, including AI-generated tracks, can be uploaded under the wrong artist name because of metadata errors, duplicate names or deliberate misuse. When enabled through Spotify for Artists, musicians receive notifications when music is delivered with their name attached and can approve or decline the release. Only approved tracks will appear on their profile and count towards statistics and recommendations.

Artists are also assigned a unique artist key that can be shared with trusted distributors to automatically pre-approve releases. Spotify says it will gather feedback during the beta phase before a wider rollout.

While tightening artist identity on the platform, Spotify is also leaning into offline community-building. The company recently hosted an intimate padel-themed gathering in Karachi, bringing together local creators for an evening centred on sports, music and social connection. Held at House of Padel, the event welcomed guests including Ayla Adnan, Hajra Yamin and Arshanistan, with Aqsa Manzoor hosting and a live DJ set by Disguise in Hoodie setting the mood. Spotify’s “Padel Fever” playlist provided the soundtrack on and off the court, while interactive elements inspired by the platform’s Mix feature encouraged guests to engage with music in a more expressive and social setting.

Spotify’s marketing manager for Pakistan, Talha Hashim, said the initiative reflects how music naturally fits into sporting environments and shared experiences. Together, these updates highlight Spotify’s evolving strategy, giving artists greater control over their digital presence while strengthening its role in local music culture through shared, real-life experiences.
