LAHORE : Government Shahdara Teaching Hospital, in line with the health vision of CM Punjab Maryam Nawaz, has improved the healthcare system through optimal use of available resources and proactive management approach.

This has led to a significant improvement in the hospital’s performance, and over the past three months, treatment facilities were provided to over 123,000 patients in the Outpatient Department (OPD) and 147,990 patients in the Emergency Department. Medical Superintendent of the hospital, Dr Adnan stated this while sharing details of the hospital’s performance over the past three months.

Dr Adnan further said that Government Shahdara Teaching Hospital is no less than a blessing for both the rural and urban populations on the western bank of River Ravi, where people from surrounding localities, towns, and villages have access to top-level medical facilities near their homes. He said that during the past three months, 483 major C-section operations were performed in the Gynae (Obstetrics) department, while 614 babies were born through normal delivery. Complete healthcare services were provided to all women and children.

Dr Adnan further informed that 196 general surgeries, 118 orthopedic, and 24 urology operations were performed at the hospital.

He said that the hospital’s doctors, nurses, and paramedics are performing their duties with professional dedication and hard work. He added that an integrated system of monitoring and coordination has been established to improve the quality of healthcare services in the hospital and to maintain cleanliness in the hospital wards and other areas. The welfare of hospital workers is also being taken care of.

A daycare centre for the children of female workers has been made functional and facilities have been provided. A ‘Musafir Khana’/shed has also been constructed for the attendants of patients visiting the hospital so that attendants can be provided seating and cold drinking water. Dr. Adnan stated that electric water coolers have also been installed in the hospital during the extreme hot weather so that attendants accompanying patients can also have access to cold drinking water.

Moreover, coordination between ICU, Emergency, Radiology and Pathology departments has been strengthened to ensure emergency services and critical care arrangements, so that patients in critical condition can be provided medical assistance under the immediate response protocol. For this purpose, uninterrupted oxygen supply has also been ensured in the hospital.

Dr Adnan expressed his resolve that coordinated efforts and measures will continue to make the hospital patient-friendly and to provide better medical facilities.
