The Pakistan Peoples Party’s (PPP) Sindh chapter has announced that the 73rd birth anniversary of former prime minister Benazir Bhutto would be observed with simplicity across the province on Sunday (today) in view of Muharram’s sanctity.
The announcement was made by PPP Sindh President Nisar Ahmed Khuhro in a statement issued to the media. He said the party would mark the occasion at all district headquarters through Quran Khwani and special prayer gatherings while avoiding celebratory activities.
Khuhro said that all district-level organisations and office-bearers of the party have been directed to arrange Quran recitations and prayers in their respective districts to commemorate Benazir’s birth anniversary, and pay tribute to her services and sacrifices for Pakistan’s people.
He also announced that traditional cake-cutting ceremonies would not be held anywhere in the province. He urged party leaders and workers to observe the day with dignity and reverence by organising prayer ceremonies and remembering the legacy of Benazir, whose struggle and sacrifices continue to inspire the nation.
He stressed that the anniversary events would serve as an opportunity for party workers and supporters to offer prayers for the late leader, and honour her contributions to democracy and public welfare.
