The Punjab government has announced a seven per cent increase in pensions in their budget for FY 2026-27. Many were expecting a seven per cent increase, in line with the relief granted by the federal and Sindh governments. Moreover, in the context of a surplus budge, the Punjab government could be more sympathetic in the matter of giving relief to its pensioners.
It would be in all fairness for the Punjab CM to look at the issue again and announce a seven per cent increase in pensions.
