Punjab Assembly Speaker Malik Muhammad Ahmad Khan expressed these views while addressing a two-day Budget Literacy Workshop organised for members of the Punjab Assembly to promote effective legislation on the budget, sound financial management, and effective oversight of public resources.
A large number of members of the assembly participated in the workshop. The speaker as a chief guest in the seminar stated that the protection of public interest can be ensured through constructive debate, transparent accountability, and effective parliamentary oversight. He emphasised that enhancing the capacity of elected representatives is the need of the hour and that effective parliamentary oversight during the budget-making process promotes transparent governance.
