Elusive rights

There comes a time in the life of a nation when silence becomes complicity. Today, in Pakistan, that time has long passed. What should have been guaranteed rights for every citizen – electricity, healthcare, clean water and safety – have gradually transformed into luxuries accessible only to the fortunate few. What is most painful, however, is the growing sense of helplessness among the people. When citizens begin to believe that their voices do not matter, that justice is selective and that survival itself is a daily battle, the very foundation of society begins to weaken. A state’s strength is measured not by the wealth of its elite, but by the well-being of its most vulnerable citizens. Ignoring their suffering is not just poor governance. It is also a betrayal of trust.

It is time for those in power to listen not to statistics and reports, but to the cries of the people. Immediate and sincere action is needed to address power shortages, improve healthcare infrastructure, control inflation and restore dignity to the lives of ordinary citizens.
