A road connects our village, Serkikhel Wazir, to Serai Naurang city via Akbar Killi in Lakki Marwat District. For decades, elected representatives have promised to construct and blacktop this road. Some of them, merely to gain public support during elections, have dumped sand and gravel on the road, raising hopes that the project would finally be completed. However, once elected, they turn a deaf ear and fail to fulfil the promises made during their election campaigns.

The current MPA claims he has received no funds from the provincial government. As for the MNA, he spends most of his time in Islamabad or Peshawar and is only rarely seen in his native district of Lakki Marwat. He appears unconcerned about the public’s difficulties and repeats the same argument that development funds have been withheld by the chief minister and the federal government. In the past, others too pursued similar politics and neglected Wazir-dominated areas in terms of development. Now, the district administration is our only remaining avenue for assistance. However, it also seems reluctant to construct and blacktop the road, as the deputy commissioner frequently cites a lack of funds from the provincial government.
