Minister urges smart policing, people-centric approach at NPA

Islamabad:Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi visited the National Police Academy (NPA) on Wednesday to meet with probationary Assistant Superintendents of Police and discuss key professional and training-related matters.

Addressing the young trainee officers, the minister emphasised the critical importance of adopting modern technology and smart policing practices to effectively meet contemporary law enforcement challenges.

He urged the probationary officers to maintain a strictly people-centric approach once in the field, stressing that courteous behavior and the prompt resolution of public complaints are the essential qualities of an effective police officer.

Expressing high hopes for the new cohort, Naqvi stated that the trainee officers represent the future of the country and noted his full confidence in their professional capabilities. He reaffirmed that equipping these officers with high-quality training and state-of-the-art facilities remains a top priority for the government.

To further this objective, the interior minister announced that the first batch of elite training for officers would commence shortly, underscoring that training aligned with modern requirements is vital to ensuring effective policing nationwide.

During the visit, Naqvi also reviewed ongoing efforts to upgrade the academy’s infrastructure, noting that training and residential facilities at the National Police Academy are currently being developed to meet international standards. As part of this assessment, the minister inspected an under-construction hostel on the premises and reviewed a completed model room.
