Islamabad: In a significant administrative reshuffle, the services of Islamabad Chief Traffic Officer (CTO) Sarfaraz Virk have been placed at the disposal of the Punjab Police.
Official sources confirmed that Virk, a Grade-19 officer of the Police Service of Pakistan (PSP), is expected to report to the Punjab Police Headquarters within the next few days. During his tenure in the federal capital, Virk was widely credited with introducing a series of effective reforms that significantly improved traffic management.
Public observers and residents noted that his administrative and operational changes laid a solid groundwork for ongoing improvements to Islamabad’s traffic system. In his place, Ms. Kainat Azhar Khan, a Grade-18 PSP officer, has been appointed as the new Chief Traffic Officer of the capital.
She recently joined the Islamabad Police cadre following her transfer from the Punjab Police. Prior to her new assignment in the capital, she served as CTO Multan and also held the position of Superintendent of Police (SP) Cantt, where she accumulated extensive experience in both general policing and traffic management operations.
She is expected to formally assume her new responsibilities in Islamabad in the coming days, making her one of the senior female officers entrusted with leading high-profile traffic operations in the federal capital.
