PESHAWAR: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Higher Education Department has formally launched an inquiry into the alleged disappearance of official records related to the removal and reported reappointment of Project

Director Dr. Nasser Ali Khan of Pak-Austria Fachhochschule Institute of Applied Sciences and Technology PAF-IAST, Haripur.

According to a notification issued by the department, a fact-finding committee has been constituted under Deputy Secretary Universities II Azhar Zahir. The committee will investigate why the summary and other official records related to the removal, reappointment and alleged absorption of Dr. Nasser Ali Khan in the institution are not available. The committee has been directed to submit its report within two weeks.

This development comes after a report published in The News on 30 April 2026 revealed that 68-year-old Dr. Nasser Ali Khan has been serving as Project Director for nearly a decade, despite the project being completed and a Rector having already been appointed. The report also stated that despite his retirement in 2018, he continued in the position, and a summary for his removal was reportedly approved at the level of chief minister and governor in 2021 but was never implemented. The approved summary was also reported missing during this period.

Meanwhile, Dr Nasser Ali Khan maintained that his position and 26 other posts were part of the PC-1, and were later transferred to the institution’s payroll, stating that all actions were taken in accordance with rules.
