LAHORE:Commissioner Lahore Division Marryam Khan on Wednesday chaired a meeting of the Lahore Division Peace Committee to review security and administrative arrangements for Muharram-ul-Haram.
The meeting was attended by RPO Sheikhupura Range Athar Ismail, DC Lahore Ali Ijaz, DIG Operations Dr Faisal Kamran, religious scholars and peace committee members.She stressed the key role of religious scholars in promoting inter-sect harmony and urged them to verify information before sharing it to prevent rumours and maintain peace. She said the CM Punjab was personally monitoring Muharram arrangements, adding that maintaining peace was a combine responsibility of administration and the society.Authorities assured full security measures, strict enforcement of regulations, and coordinated arrangements for Muharram processions and gatherings.
CCPO orders police to ensure foolproof security
CCPO Bilal Siddique Kamyana has directed the police to ensure foolproof security arrangements during Muharram and implement SOPs to maintain peace and public order.
He was speaking at a meeting here on Wednesday. He said crimes against women and children remained a ‘redline’ for Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif, warning police officers that any negligence or laxity in responding to such cases would invite strict action. He instructed officers to register cases involving women and children on a priority basis. He directed police officers to intensify patrolling in crime-prone areas to prevent motorcycle theft and other street crimes.Kamyana said that maintaining law and order and promoting religious harmony were collective responsibilities.
