CHITRAL: The district administration on Friday hosted a reception in honour of participants of the recently concluded Pakistan Solidarity Expedition to Trich Mir via Susom valley in Lotkoh tehsil of Lower Chitral.
The expedition, supported by Zoom Connection and organised in collaboration with the Hindukush Snow Sports Club Chitral, was led by renowned mountain guide Julien Herry of Chamonix, France. Sixteen climbers, guides and mountain sports enthusiasts participated in the initiative.
The team remained at Trich Mir Base Camp in Karimabad from May 19 to June 4, exploring alternative access routes to Trich Mir, training local athletes in modern mountaineering techniques and assessing the region’s potential for adventure tourism and winter sports.
During the expedition, participants successfully climbed several smaller peaks and surveyed mountain passes in the area, gathering valuable information on access routes, terrain conditions and opportunities for future mountaineering, skiing and eco-tourism activities.
Deputy Commissioner Rao Hashim Azim congratulated the team on the successful completion of the expedition and reaffirmed the district administration’s commitment to supporting initiatives aimed at promoting Chitral’s tourism and adventure sports potential.
