KARACHI: With hip-hop music rapidly gaining popularity across Pakistan and local artists making their mark both nationally and internationally, Geo TV has announced the launch of the country’s first and largest rap culture reality show, Rap Icon Pakistan.
The show will premiere on June 5 and will air every Friday at 10:00 pm on Geo TV. It aims to provide aspiring rappers from across the country with a platform to showcase their talent and gain national recognition. One of the highlights of the programme is the presence of internationally acclaimed rapper Bohemia, widely regarded as the pioneer of Punjabi rap, and renowned Pakistani rap artist Talha Anjum, who will serve as judges.
The duo will evaluate contestants and mentor emerging talent throughout the competition. Pakistan’s hip-hop scene has witnessed remarkable growth in recent years, with artists such as Young Stunners, Faris Shafi, Rap Demon and Sunny Khan Durrani playing a significant role in popularising the genre among the youth through their distinctive musical styles and lyrical expression.
Hip-hop is increasingly becoming the voice of Pakistan’s younger generation, and platforms such as Rap Icon Pakistan are expected to contribute significantly to the growth of the genre while helping discover and promote new talent from across the country.
