CJP for time-bound mechanism for dispute resolution

ISLAMABAD: A delegation of Singapore International Mediation Centre (SIMC) on Thursday called on Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Yahya Afridi at the Supreme Court.

The delegation is visiting Pakistan to conduct an Accredited Mediation Skills Workshop and Assessment Programme for Judges at the Federal Judicial Academy, Islamabad.

Supreme Court Judge Miangul Hassan Aurangzeb, adviser to the board of governors, Federal Judicial Academy, was also present during the meeting. Both sides engaged in a constructive discussion on the development and strengthening of the Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) ecosystem in Pakistan.

The chief justice underscored the importance of mediation as an effective, time-bound and cost-efficient mechanism for dispute resolution and highlighted ongoing reform initiatives aimed at promoting ADR within the justice sector.

Meanwhile, Chuan Wee Meng shared the experience of Singapore International Mediation Centre in promoting mediation and institutionalising alternative dispute resolution mechanisms.
