The two most recent and ongoing global conflicts have had major economic ramifications for the entire world. When Russia invaded Ukraine in February 2021, it caused a major energy crisis in Europe, especially Germany, which depended on Russia for gas. A similar fate has befallen Pakistan due to the ongoing US-Iran conflict. It is pretty obvious to see that a handful of countries have control over essential commodities like crude oil and any such conflicts can completely disrupt the socio-economic fabric of countries that are not even a direct party to them. It is thus imperative that the dependence on such energy sources is decreased as much as possible. One such alternative is nuclear energy. Though not strictly renewable, it is a very clean and efficient source of energy. While nuclear energy does have its flaws, it can definitely be a way forward for clean and sustainable energy with suitable regulatory oversight in place.
Pakistan can be better served by investing in nuclear energy and reducing its dependence on crude oil and natural gas. Thus, any fluctuations related to fossil fuels can be handled more effectively and without adding to the economic difficulties of the people.
