Across Sindh and southern Punjab, temperatures are hitting historic highs. Our cities have effectively turned into ovens, pushing public health infrastructure to its absolute limit. While the extreme weather is an undeniable consequence of global climate change, the suffering of ordinary citizens is being actively multiplied by poor governance. Urban and rural areas are facing unannounced power outages stretching up to 16 hours daily. Our local administrations and power distribution companies must wake up to this climate reality.

The authorities must establish heatstroke relief centres in every district. Concurrently, utility companies must suspend loadshedding during peak hours.
