A man was shot dead on Sunday morning by unidentified armed assailants near 4K Chowrangi in North Karachi. Police said the incident appeared to be linked to personal enmity.
The attack took place in North Karachi Sector 5-D within the jurisdiction of the Bilal Colony police station. According to police, the assailants opened fire on a motorcyclist before fleeing the scene.
The victim’s body was taken to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for medico-legal formalities where he was identified as 45-year-old Salman, son of Ghulam Nabi Gujar. Police said the deceased was a resident of Ajmer Nagri and hailed from Balakot in Mansehra district. He worked as a mason.
According to SHO Rao Shabir, preliminary investigations revealed that three unidentified suspects riding a motorcycle were involved in the attack. Salman sustained four bullet wounds in the head and neck, and died at the scene.
Police seized five spent 30-bore pistol casings from the crime scene for forensic examination. The investigators also found the victim’s motorcycle, mobile phone and cash with him, indicating that the shooting did not occur during an attempted robbery.
Police believe the killing was likely motivated by a personal dispute or enmity. Efforts are under way to obtain CCTV footage from nearby areas to help trace the killers.
