The Federal Investigation Agency’s (FIA) immigration authorities have taken action against a Pakistani national deported from Italy after he was found involved in immigration violations during his stay in Europe.
The passenger, identified as Osama Ali, son of Ashraf, and a resident of Gujranwala, had initially travelled abroad legally on Pakistani travel documents. However, he later violated immigration laws by overstaying and residing illegally overseas.
According to the FIA, after arriving in Turkiye, the passenger remained in the country beyond the permitted duration and continued to stay there unlawfully. The spokesperson said Osama Ali subsequently crossed into Greece from Turkiye through illegal routes and eventually managed to reach Italy using dangerous and unauthorised migration channels.
After arriving in Italy, he applied for asylum, claiming that he was facing threats and cannot return to Pakistan. Italian authorities initially granted him temporary permission to stay while his case was under review.
However, following a detailed assessment, his asylum appeal was rejected. After the rejection, Italian authorities detained him and initiated legal proceedings under immigration laws, ordering his removal from the country.
The passenger was subsequently deported and sent back to Pakistan on a Turkish Airlines flight. According to the FIA, he returned to Pakistan on an emergency passport issued by the Pakistani Embassy in Rome.
The FIA’s immigration officials completed all the legal formalities upon his arrival and proceeded with action in accordance with immigration regulations. The FIA has advised citizens to avoid attempting to travel abroad through illegal routes, warning that such journeys are not only dangerous but may also result in legal action under both Pakistani and foreign laws.
