Rawalpindi: Punjab Food Authority (PFA) has stepped up inspections in Murree to ensure the availability of safe, hygienic, and quality food for tourists during the ongoing tourist season.

According to a PFA spokesperson, special food safety operations are underway across the hill station, with inspection teams examining 77 food outlets located along Murree Expressway and Cart Road.

During the inspections, authorities found violations of hygiene regulations, poor sanitation standards, and inadequate food safety practices at several establishments. As a result, action was taken against 11 food outlets, and fines totaling Rs225,000 were imposed.

The food safety teams also recovered and destroyed a large quantity of expired soft drinks to eliminate potential health risks to consumers. The spokesperson said that ensuring the provision of quality food to tourists and residents at Murree and other tourist destinations remains a top priority for the authority.
