LAHORE: The Punjab Safe Cities Authority (PSCA), in collaboration with the ‘Suthra Punjab’ initiative, district administrations and law enforcement agencies, monitored cleanliness, traffic and security arrangements across the province during the first three days of Eidul Azha.

According to a PSCA spokesperson, Safe City cameras, AI-based surveillance systems and drones were used through 42 Smart Safe City centres to oversee sanitation and public safety operations.

More than 2,000 cleanliness-related observations regarding animal waste on roads and public places were identified and reported to waste management teams for immediate action. Faisalabad recorded 404 observations, Gujranwala 388, Bahawalpur 333 and Dera Ghazi Khan 293 during the campaign.

Drones were also deployed in Lahore and other districts to monitor bus terminals, parks, highways, cattle markets and other public places.

The spokesperson said AI-based monitoring systems and control rooms remained operational round the clock, while surveillance technology was also used to detect one-wheeling, aerial firing and other unlawful activities during Eid holidays.

He said coordinated efforts by PSCA and the Suthra Punjab initiative helped ensure cleanliness, security and uninterrupted civic services during Eidul Azha.
