Islamabad:Fire that broke out on Thursday at various locations in the Margalla Hills National Park, including the Golra Range and Bahara Kahu Range, was brought under control late at night.

According to the details, more than 120 staff members from the Environment Wing participated in the firefighting operation. Relevant environment officers, staff and Assistant Commissioners ensured continuous monitoring of the firefighting effort.

In the operation to extinguish the fire in the forests of Tumair, under the Rawalpindi Forest Department more than 25 staff members from the CDA Environment Wing participated. Over 80 percent of the forest area in Tumair has been brought under control.

The fire that broke out at Margalla Hill National Park near Loondha Dara in the Golra Range was alos brought under control. A team of 48 personnel from the Environment Wing participated in the firefighting operation. After the fire was brought under control, the cooling process has properly begun.

In line with the direction of Chairman CDA and Chief Commissioner Islamabad, Sohail Ashraf, Environment Wing and ICT officers remained present in the field and personally supervised the operation, the CDA spokesman said.

However, fire also broke out in Bara Kahu and Golra range areas of Margalla Hills on Friday evening said Firefighters are busy to control fire which would be extinguished soon, the spokesman of the Islamabad Capital Territory administration said.
