Islamabad:Islamabad Traffic Police (ITP) issued 2,453 challans and impounded 930 vehicles and motorcycles during enforcement operations carried out across the federal capital on the first two days of Eid-ul-Azha.
An ITP official told APP on Friday that traffic police remained actively deployed on roads and recreational spots to facilitate citizens and ensure smooth traffic flow during Eid holidays. The official said 836 motorcycles and 94 vehicles involved in serious traffic violations were shifted to various police stations, while 31 cases were registered against motorists for life-threatening traffic offences.
According to the official, special ITP squads remained deployed on major highways and roads of the federal capital to prevent one-wheeling, reckless driving and other dangerous road activities.
He said more than 15,000 citizens were also educated about traffic laws and road safety measures under awareness campaigns conducted during Eid holidays. The official added that these measures were aimed at ensuring safety of families visiting recreational spots and protecting lives and property of citizens. CTO urged citizens to follow traffic laws and cooperate with traffic police to help maintain a safe and disciplined road environment during Eid celebrations.
