The recent terrorist attack on a train near Quetta has once again exposed the fragile security situation in Balochistan. The loss of innocent lives, injuries to passengers and the fear created among ordinary citizens are deeply painful and alarming. Public transport, especially railways, should be a symbol of connection and safety, not a target of violence and bloodshed. For years, the people of Balochistan have suffered from terrorism, instability and insecurity. Such attacks not only harm innocent civilians but also damage the country’s economy, national unity and international image. The continuous targeting of trains and public infrastructure demands urgent attention from both federal and provincial authorities. The government must strengthen railway security, improve intelligence coordination and ensure the protection of passengers across the country. At the same time, lasting peace cannot be achieved through force alone. Serious efforts are needed to address the political, economic and social grievances that continue to fuel unrest in the region. Terrorism in any form is unacceptable. The nation must unite to protect human lives and restore peace.
