Roundtable: Concern voiced over increase in prices of essential commodities

PESHAWAR: Participants at a roundtable dialogue here expressed concern over the continuous increase in prices of essential commodities, particularly petroleum products, and said the soaring prices of items of daily use have made the life miserable for the people.

They stressed the need for effective economic policies and collective efforts to provide relief to the public and stabilize the economy. The dialogue on rising inflation and public issues was organized by the Institute of Regional Studies on Tuesday. Representatives from different walks of life including academicians, researchers, students and media persons attended the event to discuss the worsening economic situation and its impact on ordinary citizens.

The participants shared their views on the country’s current economic challenges and the growing burden of inflation on the common man.Chairman of the Department of Economics at University of Peshawar, Professor Dr. Sajjad Ahmad Jan, attended the event as chief guest, while former chairman of the department, Professor Dr. Zalaqat, presided over the session. The speakers emphasized the importance of policy reforms, public welfare measures and coordinated action to control inflation and address the hardships being faced by people.

Chairman of the Institute of Regional Studies, Dr. Muhammad Iqbal Khalil, reaffirmed the institute’s commitment to promoting constructive dialogue on important social and economic issues confronting society.
