254 prisoners released from KP jails

PESHAWAR: A total of 254 prisoners named in minor cases were released on Monday from various jails across the province, including Peshawar Central Jail, ahead of Eidul Azha.

According to officials, the initiative was carried out on the directives of Chief Justice of the Peshawar High Court (PHC), Justice SM Attique Shah. In this connection, all district and sessions judges and judicial magistrates across the province conducted special visits to prisons before Eidul Azha.

The purpose was to dispose of petty cases promptly in accordance with the law. During the visits, the judicial officers collectively decided 252 minor cases related to different offences.As a result, legal relief was granted to 254 prisoners involved in such cases and orders were issued for their release from different jails.

The move reflected the judiciary’s commitment to ensuring the rule of law and providing timely justice. According to the PHC administration, the measures were aimed at extending relief to deserving individuals on the occasion of Eidul Azha.
