LAHORE : The Metering and Testing (M&T) East and West data downloading labs have demonstrated outstanding performance by recovering a total of 14,724,144 pending units from replaced meters since January this year, under the directives of Lahore Electric Supply Company (Lesco) Chief Executive Officer Engineer M Ramzan Butt.

According to a Lesco spokesperson, this major recovery drive was closely supervised by Chief Engineer TS Nisar Sarwar, Regional Manager (M&T East) Asghar Sukhera, and Regional Manager (M&T West) Mehr Tanveer. During this period, the teams successfully downloaded data from 162,706 single-phase, 23,524 three-phase, and 365 LT MDI meters, while also detecting 301 single-phase and 19 three-phase tampered and remote-controlled meters. A regional breakdown shows that M&T South led the recovery by detecting 5,609,675 pending units, followed by M&T Central with 1,544,030 units, M&T Sheikhupura with 1,433,743 units, and M&T Kasur with 1,020,952 units. Furthermore, M&T North identified 952,091 units, M&T East recovered 793,397 units, and M&T Okara recorded 439,310 pending units.

Various divisional laboratories, including Kot Lakhpat, Chunian, Depalpur, Nankana, Township, and Rural SKP, played an equally vital role in ensuring efficient data retrieval.

CEO Engineer Muhammad Ramzan Butt emphasised that the integration of this modernised data-downloading system is critical for the timely detection of electricity theft and tampered meters.

He reiterated that stringent data monitoring will continue aggressively to protect the national exchequer from financial losses.
