November 26 protest: Bushra’s pre-arrest bail extended

ISLAMABAD: Anti-Terrorism Court Judge Abul Hassanat Muhammad Zulqarnain extended the pre-arrest bail of Bushra Bibi in 12 cases registered in connection with the November 26 protests until July 23.

During the hearing on Thursday, Advocate Ansar Kayani appeared before the court on behalf of Bushra Bibi. The court extended her interim bail and adjourned the hearing until July 23. Cases have been registered against Bushra Bibi at Ramna, Tarnol, Secretariat and other police stations under terrorism provisions. She also faces allegations including inciting party workers.

Similarly, Anti-Terrorism Court Judge Abul Hassanat Muhammad Zulqarnain extended the interim bail of 243 accused, including Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leaders and workers, in various cases registered against them in connection with protests at the Supreme Court and other demonstrations held on November 26, restraining the police from arresting them.

During the hearing on 243 pre-arrest bail applications, PTI MNAs Umair Niazi, Latif Khosa, Junaid Akbar, Arbab Sher Ali, Sajid Khan Mohmand, Senator Falak Naz Chitrali, Khurram Sher Zaman, Raja Basharat, Rauf Hassan, Niazullah Niazi, former Prime Minister of Azad Kashmir Sardar Abdul Qayyum Niazi, Seemabia Tahir, Nadia Khattak, Major (retd) Tahir Sadiq and others appeared before the court.

The court extended the interim bail of all the PTI MNAs and leaders, ordered the police not to arrest them until the next hearing, and adjourned proceedings until July 23. Cases against them have been registered at Tarnol, Karachi Company, Secretariat and other police stations.
