PESHAWAR: Elderly men and women from Swat, Kohat, Orakzai, Haripur, and Khyber districts staged a protest here on Thursday, demanding the recovery of their missing relatives and the transfer of detained prisoners to nearby jails.

Organised by Defence of Human Rights, the protesters gathered outside the Peshawar Press Club. Speaking on the occasion, the demonstrators said their loved ones had allegedly been victims of enforced disappearances and appealed to the government to bring them before the public. Some protesters stated their relatives had already been sentenced by courts but were being held in distant prisons in Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, making family visits nearly impossible due to poverty and travel difficulties.
