CHARSADDA: Speakers at a conference on Thursday stressed the need for collective action and public awareness to mitigate the effects of climate change.

Held at the Bacha Khan University, Charsadda, the two-day conference, titled “Climate Change Adaptation and Policy Pathways for a Resilient Future,” concluded with a ceremony attended by Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Khan Alam as chief guest.

Faculty members from various universities, national and international environmental specialists, researchers, students and representatives of different institutions also participated in the event.

The moot brought together academia, environmental experts, researchers and students from across the country and abroad.

More than 200 researchers presented their research papers and recommendations during various sessions.

The experts and researchers termed the conference as a positive academic and research initiative and expressed the hope that such activities would further promote effective environmental policymaking in the future.

The participants held detailed discussions on key issues arising from climate change, including its impact on agriculture, conservation of natural resources, sustainable development and future environment-friendly policy frameworks.

Addressing the concluding ceremony, Dr Khan Alam said climate change was not merely an environmental issue but a challenge affecting the economy, agriculture, healthcare and several aspects of human life.
