BD delegation seeks stronger academic ties with Pak varsities

LAHORE : Members of a Bangladeshi academic delegation on Tuesday expressed keen interest in strengthening academic ties with Pakistani universities during a visit to Punjab University.

The 15-member delegation of senior academicians from the University Grants Commission of Bangladesh was led by its Chairman Prof Dr Mamun Ahmed and met Punjab University Chairman Admission Committee Prof Dr Mehmood Saleem.

During the meeting, the BD team stressed the need for collaborative research, academic partnerships, and exchange programmes for faculty members and students between the two countries.

Meanwhile, Bangladesh delegation of academic leaders visited LUMS to explore opportunities for deeper regional collaboration in higher education, research, and academic exchange.

According to a press release, led by Prof. Dr. Mamun Ahmed, Chairman, University Grants Commission (UGC) Bangladesh, and facilitated by HEC, Pakistan, the visit brought together VCs from leading public and private universities in Bangladesh, along with senior officials from UGC Bangladesh.

In a meeting with LUMS VCDr Ali Cheema, Provost, Dr Tariq Jadoon, deans, and faculty, discussions focused on the importance of deepening academic linkages by building on shared histories while learning from distinct national contexts.

The participants explored opportunities to advance these objectives through research collaboration, student and faculty exchange, executive education, legal education, and joint academic initiatives.
