Over 4,000 cops deployed at 222 cattle markets across Punjab

LAHORE : Punjab Police has heightened security across all cattle markets in the province ensuring strict vigilance and public safety.

Police spokesperson said that more than 4,000 officers and personnel have been deployed for the security of 222 cattle markets across the province to provide a safe environment to traders and citizens visiting for the purchase of sacrificial animals.

Giving details, the spokesperson said that more than 600 police officers and personnel are performing security duties at six cattle markets established in the provincial capital. Similarly, 150 personnel have been deployed for 23 cattle markets in Sheikhupuraregion, 525 for 44 cattle markets in Gujranwala region, more than 340 for 22 cattle markets in Rawalpindi region, 170 for 22 cattle markets in Sargodha region, more than 538 for 19 cattle markets in Faisalabad region, more than 480 for 20 cattle markets in Multan region, more than 230 for 11 cattle markets in Sahiwal region, more than 410 for 29 cattle markets in Bahawalpur region, while more than 210 officers and personnel have been deployed for 26 cattle markets in DG Khan region.

IG Punjab Abdul Kareem said that Punjab Police has taken comprehensive security measures for the protection of life and properties of traders and citizens visiting cattle markets. He directed that no cattle market should be allowed at any place other than the locations approved by the district administration, and indiscriminate legal action should be taken against illegal cattle markets and sale points.

IG Punjab further directed that an effective patrolling plan should be formulated for the crackdown against fraudsters, pickpockets, and other criminal elements. He said that Police Response Units along with other patrolling teams should ensure continuous patrolling in and around cattle markets so that citizens may purchase sacrificial animals without fear or danger.
