The roads around Sukkur IBA University are becoming increasingly dangerous due to over-speeding and weak enforcement of traffic laws. Students and the public face serious risks every day, especially at night near cafes and gathering spots outside the campus. Particularly alarming is the reckless driving by underage individuals, who appear unconcerned about legal consequences. I recently had a narrow escape from a speeding vehicle and I have also witnessed a hit-and-run incident in the area.
Such incidents speak to negligence and poor enforcement of traffic rules and protocols. It seems that many drivers now think that they can just break the rules with no consequences. The traffic police must take urgent action through regular patrols, speed breakers and strict penalties for violators before a more serious tragedy occurs.
