The Federal Investigation Agency Immigration Karachi on Saturday conducted a major operation at Jinnah International Airport and offloaded a passenger bound for Bahrain over suspicious travel documents.
During scrutiny, officials discovered that a fake Spanish visa had been removed from one of the passport pages, while several suspicious and forged immigration stamps of different countries were also found. During interrogation, the passenger confessed to working as an unauthorised travel agent and admitted to advertising overseas immigration services for various countries through social media platforms, according to the FIA spokesperson.
Authorities recovered crucial evidence from mobile phones related to illegal immigration to European countries, “dunki” routes, fake visas, overseas transfer of Afghan nationals and financial transactions worth millions of rupees.
Several SIM cards, ATM cards, educational and travel documents belonging to different individuals, visa images and suspicious chats were also recovered from the suspect’s possession.
According to preliminary investigations, the accused was found involved in fake visas, edited documents and an illegal immigration network, the FIA spokesperson added. The suspect was offloaded and shifted to the FIA Anti-Human Trafficking Circle Karachi for further legal action.
The FIA stated that indiscriminate action against human smuggling, fake travel documents and illegal immigration networks would continue.
