Chancellor Sir Syed University of Engineering and Technology Muhammad Akbar Ali Khan has said international education is essential for the bright future of students and that the university will continue striving to provide world-class education and guidance to its students.

Officials said a comprehensive seminar on higher education and scholarship opportunities in the United Kingdom was organised by the university’s Center for Guidance, Career Planning and Placement.

The seminar aimed to guide students about international educational programmes, scholarship opportunities and study-abroad pathways to help them acquire quality education and improve their career prospects. Guest speakers included British Council Senior Manager Higher Education Mobility Usman Khalid, South Region Manager Marium Qadir, IELTS Account Manager Muhammad Imran and Library Manager Humaira Fatima.

The speakers provided detailed information regarding study opportunities at leading UK universities, scholarship options, admission procedures, visa requirements and financial assistance available for Pakistani students.

Students were also informed about access to thousands of e-books, audiobooks, magazines, newspapers and international publications through digital library services.

Speaking on the occasion, Chancellor Akbar Ali Khan said the university’s objective had always been to equip students with world-class education and the best possible opportunities.

“Such seminars not only guide students regarding overseas education but also encourage them to move in the right direction for their future,” he said. Registrar Commodore (retd) Syed Sarfraz Ali said awareness about international education and scholarship opportunities was extremely important for students.

“Sir Syed University has always strived to provide students with the best guidance and opportunities and will continue to do so,” he added.

The seminar was attended by Dr Kashif Sheikh, chairman of the Computer Science Department, and Sarfraz Natha, director of the Guidance Center. The event concluded with an interactive question-and-answer session in which students actively participated and sought guidance regarding scholarships and admissions to universities in the United Kingdom.
