The Sindh government has exempted all shops, markets, shopping centres, hotels, restaurants, food outlets, wedding halls and marquees from the previously announced closing times as part of its austerity drive.
In a statement issued to the media on Saturday, Information Minister Sharjeel Memon said that now these commercial centres would be able to continue their business hours as usual without the previous restrictions.
Memon said that specific timings for markets, restaurants and wedding halls had been fixed under the energy conservation and thrift policy, but keeping in mind the suggestions, issues and ground realities of traders and industrialists, the government has taken this decision so that business activities are not affected.
He said the government believes in promoting business activities, urban life convenience and stability of the economy, and always takes decisions keeping public interest and consultation in mind.
Business owners are the backbone of the country’s economy, and the government will continue to take all possible steps to resolve their problems, he added.
He also said that even in difficult economic circumstances, the government ensures protecting the interests of the public and business owners, and in future also, such decisions would be taken that prove helpful in promoting the economy, employment and business activities.
