NANKANA SAHIB: The Punjab Forest Department launched the spring tree plantation campaign here on Friday.Minister of State for Climate Change Dr Shazra Mansab inaugurated the campaign by planting a sapling at Baba Guru Nanak University. Chief Conservator Forest Lahore Division Sheikh Saqib Mahmood, Deputy Commissioner Muhammad Tasleem Akhtar Rao, Vice Chancellor of Baba Guru Nanak University Dr. Shahid Imran, Registrar Muhammad Mubashir Tariq, President Press Club Nankana Chaudhary Afzal Haq Khan, PML-N leaders, teachers and students also attended the event.
The guests planted saplings alongside teachers and students from various educational institutions and offered special prayers for the country’s development, peace, security and the success of the Green Pakistan campaign. Speaking on the occasion, Dr Shazra Mansab and other guests said Pakistan is among the countries most affected by climate change, and planting trees is essential to protect the environment from its harmful impacts.
