Islamabad:Environmental experts have raised alarm over massive deforestation near Jatkool village in the Sheringal area, warning the illegal activity is fast depleting the already scarce forest resources in the region and thus, threatening the environment.

They pushed authorities into ensuring forest protection through strict monitoring and stronger enforcement measures.

High-resolution satellite images show widespread felling of natural forest cover between 2019 and 2026. The data shows that 66.58 hectares of natural forest land were cleared across 13 hotspot locations, with large areas converted into barren land due to deforestation.
