Karachi Commissioner Syed Hassan Naqvi has directed all deputy commissioners, town municipal administrations, the Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC), the anti-encroachment department and other relevant authorities to take coordinated action against encroachments on government land across the city.

He instructed officials to remove existing encroachments, take legal action against land grabbers and ensure punishment for those involved in illegal occupation of government property. The commissioner also directed authorities to continue operations against encroachments causing traffic congestion in different parts of Karachi. Deputy commissioners submitted reports to the commissioner regarding anti-encroachment operations carried out in their respective districts.

Deputy Commissioner Korangi Dr Masood Bhutto and Deputy Commissioner East Nasrullah Abbasi presented reports on actions taken against encroachments. According to the reports, Assistant Commissioner Shah Faisal Colony Abdul Sami conducted an anti-encroachment operation at Badal Goth near Shahrah-e-Bhutto, where four illegally constructed houses were demolished.

The operation was conducted jointly by officials of the KMC Anti-Encroachment Department and local police, while operational staff of K-Electric also participated to provide necessary support. Traffic police assisted in ensuring smooth traffic flow during the operation.

In District Korangi, Assistant Commissioner Model Colony Nade Ali carried out an anti-encroachment drive from Malir Halt to Kala Board along the National Highway with the assistance of Mukhtiarkar Abdul Rehman, the town municipal administration and police. During the operation, authorities removed fruit carts, juice stalls and other roadside encroachments obstructing traffic flow. More than 15 carts and stalls were removed, while violators were warned of strict action, including fines and arrests, in case of repeated encroachment.

According to Deputy Commissioner East Nasrullah Abbasi’s report, a daily campaign against both temporary and permanent encroachments is continuing in District East. Assistant Commissioner Gulzar-e-Hijri Hafeez Soomro conducted an operation against encroachments causing traffic obstruction at Sohrab Goth’s Al-Asif Square. During the drive, cabins, sheds and tea stalls set up on footpaths and roadside areas were removed.
