LAHORE: The Punjab government in a significant administrative reform aimed at improving accountability and institutional coordination within the criminal justice system has formally established Performance Review Committees (PRCs) for public prosecutors at divisional and district levels across the province for the first time.

The decision was notified by the Public Prosecution Department on May 12 under Sections 4, 5 and 21 of the Punjab Civil Administration Act, 2017, following approval by the chief minister through Summary No. 114328.

Officials said the initiative was intended to institutionalise a structured and evidence-based mechanism for monitoring prosecutorial performance, improving inter-departmental coordination and ensuring timely completion of Performance Evaluation Reports (PERs).

According to the notification, the committees have been constituted “with immediate effect” to strengthen prosecution processes, establish a facilitation and feedback framework and improve overall service delivery within the Punjab Criminal Prosecution Service.
