SUKKUR: A police constable was martyred and an assistant sub-inspector (ASI) sustained critical injuries during an encounter with a gang of dacoits in the Kandhra area of Sukkur.
The incident occurred near Sehar Jo Bagh, within the jurisdiction of the Kandhra police station in Rohri. According to police officials, an exchange of fire erupted when officers engaged a group of armed criminals. During the shootout, constable Gullan Tunio was fatally wounded and rushed to a nearby hospital but he succumbed to his injuries. ASI Bakhtullah Tunio also sustained severe injuries during the clash and remains under medical treatment.
Following the attack, SSP Sukkur Azhar Khan arrived at the scene with a heavy contingent of police. The area was cordoned off, and a large-scale search operation was launched to apprehend the fleeing assailants.
The funeral prayer for the martyred constable was held at the Police Headquarters Sukkur, where a police contingent presented a guard of honor. The ceremony was attended by a large number of senior officers and personnel.
