ISLAMABAD: The National Assembly on Monday unanimously adopted a resolution reaffirming the nation’s unwavering support for the armed forces of Pakistan and warning India that any aggression against Pakistan’s sovereignty and territorial integrity would be met with a strong response.
The resolution, moved at the outset of the new parliamentary session by Law Minister Azam Nazeer Tarar, was adopted on the first anniversary of ‘Marka-e-Haq’. The House declared that Pakistan’s desire for peace should not be misconstrued as weakness, asserting that the country’s armed forces were fully prepared to defend both the geographical and ideological boundaries of the state.
The resolution paid tribute to the professionalism, vigilance and preparedness demonstrated by the Pakistan armed forces during the events of May 10, 2025, following heightened tensions with India after the Pahalgam incident in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir on April 22, 2025.
The House condemned India’s baseless allegations against Pakistan after the incident despite Islamabad’s condemnation of the attack and its offer to participate in an impartial international investigation.
It further stated that India launched unprovoked air strikes on Pakistan on May 6, 2025, targeting civilians, after which Pakistan responded through Operation Bunyan-um-Marsoos under the leadership of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Field Marshal Asim Munir.
The National Assembly commended the Pakistan Air Force for establishing air superiority and praised the Pakistan Navy for maintaining strategic preparedness and thwarting intrusion attempts. The resolution also acknowledged the role of Pakistan’s cyber experts in countering cyber-attacks and disrupting Indian strategic infrastructure.
The House honoured the martyrs of the armed forces and expressed gratitude to military personnel and civilians for their sacrifices and support during the conflict. It also appreciated the unity shown by both treasury and opposition members during the crisis.
NA Speaker Ayaz Sadiq on Monday paid glowing tribute to the armed forces of Pakistan on the first anniversary of Marka-e-Haq, describing May 10 as a historic day when Pakistan decisively thwarted the enemy’s designs and delivered a strong response to aggression.
Addressing the National Assembly, he said the nation and the armed forces stood united “like a wall of steel” under the leadership of PM Shehbaz Sharif and Field Marshal Asim Munir after India targeted innocent Pakistani civilians under the cover of darkness.
Ayaz Sadiq said Pakistan’s armed forces demonstrated exceptional professional capability across all fronts. He stated that on the ground, Indian forces were compelled to retreat, while the Pakistan Air Force established decisive aerial superiority. He also praised the Pakistan Navy for effectively confining the enemy within its ports, calling it a landmark achievement in military history.
The speaker said India’s “false propaganda and fabricated narrative” had been exposed before the international community, adding that Indian media had lost credibility globally. He claimed the world now recognised the Pahalgam incident as a “false flag operation” aimed at destabilising regional and international peace.
Reaffirming Pakistan’s commitment to peace, Ayaz Sadiq said the country’s conduct during recent regional tensions reflected its responsible role in promoting global peace and stability.
He stressed that lasting peace in South Asia was linked to a just resolution of the Jammu and Kashmir dispute in line with the aspirations and right to self-determination of the people of Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK), adding that India would eventually have to engage in dialogue and grant Kashmiris their legitimate rights.
