NOWSHERA: Seven persons, including four real brothers, were killed in a violent armed clash over a dispute regarding the construction of a boundary embankment in the Mian Essa area here on Tuesday, police officials said.
The officials said that the violence erupted following a heated verbal argument between two groups over a land-related issue. The situation escalated quickly, they said, leading to intense firing between the rival parties. As a result, four brothers, including Muhammad Ali, Salehuddin, Muhammad Zahid, and Waheed Ali, were killed. Two of them reportedly died on the spot, while the remaining two succumbed to their injuries while being taken to the hospital.
In her statement to police, Bismin, wife of Hassan Din, said she was at home with her children when a dispute broke out outside involving members of the opposing family. She alleged that her sons went out to try to calm the situation but were attacked with gunfire from the rooftop of a house.
However, a counter-complaint filed by Jamila, widow of Gul Muhammad alias Zahoor, presented a different version of events, claiming that armed members of the rival family first arrived outside their home, used abusive language, and then opened fire.
She stated that her husband, Gul Muhammad, father-in-law Zarghoon Shah, and brother-in-law Majid were also killed in the exchange of fire while attempting to escape.
Police officials said both versions of the incident are being investigated to determine responsibility.
After the incident, the area remained tense, with law enforcement personnel maintaining a strong presence to prevent any further clashes.
The funeral for the four brothers was held under tight security, where emotional scenes were witnessed as their mother buried all four sons together, leaving the entire community in shock and grief.
