The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has completed a three-day specialised training programme aimed at enhancing the professional capabilities of immigration officers in Karachi. The FIA spokesperson said the training was organised by the FIA Academy Headquarters in collaboration with the United States Consulate General.

Over 100 immigration officers stationed at the Jinnah International Airport participated in the training sessions on verifying US travel documents, modern methods of human smuggling and trafficking, and techniques used by criminals to evade immigration checks. Officials were also trained in advanced techniques for identifying fake identities and imposters.

The spokesperson said the training programme has strengthened the officers’ capabilities in document verification and immigration control procedures, adding that the initiative is expected to improve the FIA’s effectiveness in combating human smuggling and the use of forged travel documents.

The FIA reiterated that it is giving special focus to the professional training of its officers to effectively deal with emerging challenges in immigration and border management.
