KHAR: Unidentified gunmen martyred a police constable in the Tarkho area of Mamond tehsil in Bajaur tribal district on Monday.
According to police sources, the deceased official was identified as Saeedullah, a resident of Katkot area in Mamond tehsil. He was on duty when he came under fire from unidentified attackers.
Deputy Superintendent of Police Niaz Muhammad confirmed the incident and said that efforts had been launched to arrest the perpetrators, while further investigation into the incident was underway.
Sources said that during the current year 2026, over 12 police personnel have embraced martyrdom in different incidents across the district.Meanwhile, funeral prayers for the martyred police cop were offered at the Police Lines in Khar.
The civil administration and police officials, political leaders, tribal elders and local residents attended the funeral.Later, the body of the slain cop was dispatched to his native area, where he was laid to rest with state honours.
