Punjab to modernise 1,600-km railway tracks: Marriyum

LAHORE:Punjab Senior Minister Marriyum Aurangzeb said that 1,600 kilometers of railway tracks will be modernised across the province under upgradation project of railway routes and more than 80 million citizens will benefit from this project.

Senior Minister shared these thoughts during her meeting with Federal Minister for Railways Hanif Abbasi on Monday. The meeting took a detailed review of the upgradation of eight important railway lines and routes of Punjab. The progress on the Lahore-Rawalpindi fast train project was also discussed in detail during the meeting. Marriyum Aurangzeb said that the routes were being upgraded in line with the instructions of CM Punjab after studying the best railway models in the world. These routes will connect the entire Punjab, she added.

She informed that the upgradation of Shahdara to Narowal, Narowal to Sialkot, Lala Musa, Malikwal and Sargodha routes are included in the project. Upgradation of Faisalabad to Chak Jhumra and Shaheenabad, Shorkot and Jhang routes was also included in the project. Sheikhupura, Jaranwala, Shorkot, Raiwind, Pakpattan, Lodhran, Kot Addu and DG Khan were part of the route upgradation project.
