International Nurses Day today: Nurses termed backbone of medical field

LAHORE:Amir-ud-Din Medical College Principal Prof Dr Farooq Afzal has said that nurses are the strong foundation and the backbone of the healthcare system, the core strength of the medical sector, and a bright symbol of patient trust.

Addressing an event held here in connection with International Nursing Day being observed today (Tuesday), he emphasised that nursing is not just a profession but a noble mission to serve humanity, where selflessness, patience, compassion, and professional expertise hold fundamental importance.

On this occasion,LGH MS Prof Dr Faryad Husain and the medical experts highlighted that the dedication, sincerity, and commitment shown by the nursing community. They said that even during challenging circumstances, emergencies, and long duty hours, patience and commitment of the nurses is highly commendable. Nurses play a pivotal role in effective hospital treatment systems, restoring patient confidence and ensuring the delivery of better medical facilities.

Dr Farooq Afzal and Dr Faryad Hussain stated that a strong, secure and empowered nursing force is the ultimate guarantee to quality healthcare and a healthy society. They expressed their firm commitment to taking all possible steps for the professional training, welfare, and improvement of the working environment for nursing staff. Paying tribute on International Nurses Day, they concluded that the role of nurses in the sacred mission of serving humanity will always be remembered in golden words.

Commissioner visits LGH, reviews facilities

Commissioner Marryam Khan and DC Ali Ijaz visited Lahore General Hospital (LGH) on Monday and reviewed medical care, monitoring and facilities for patients. On this occasion, MS, Director Emergency and senior doctors gave her a briefing. She visited hospital’s Emergency, Paediatric Wards, OPDs, Autoclave Centre. She inquired about the provision of medical facilities to the patients and issued instructions to the hospital administration.
