LAHORE:Scattered rain with hot and partly cloudy weather was witnessed in the City here on Monday while Met office predicted similar weather conditions for the next 24 hours.

The average AQI of the city was 122, which fell in the category of unhealthy for sensitive groups while the PM2.5 concentration was 8.8 times the World Health Organisation annual PM2.5 guideline value. Scattered rain after windstorm was reported in various localities early morning after which Wasa MD Ghufran Ahmed directed all officers and staff to mobilise machinery and keep disposal stations, dewatering sets and generators active. He directed all town directors to be present in the field and continuously monitor the situation. He said special teams have been deployed to ensure immediate drainage of rainwater from low-lying areas, important highways and underpasses. Ghufran Ahmed said that providing relief to citizens was the top priority and all operational teams will be present in the field during the rain. Met officials said westerly wave was affecting upper parts of the country. Due to high pressure in upper atmosphere the day time temperatures were likely to remain above normal in southern and central parts of the country.

According to PDMA, there were chances of rain in Lahore and surrounding areas today (Tuesday) due to which the weather was expected to be pleasant. After the early morning rain a slight decrease in the temperature of the city was recorded.
