Islamabad: Islamabad’s district administration has decided to establish 6 cattle markets across the capital ahead of Eid-ul-Azha, with operations set to begin from today (Monday).

The markets will be set up at key locations, including I-12, Barakahu, Sangjhani and Japan Road to facilitate the sale and purchase of sacrificial animals and manage public movement during the busy season.

The district administration said six official cattle markets would be established in different parts of Islamabad to ensure organized arrangements for traders and buyers before Eid-ul-Azha. Authorities said the decision was taken to provide designated spaces for animal trading and to avoid traffic and sanitation problems in the city.

According to the administration, cattle markets will be established near Zia Masjid, I-12 and Barakahu. Additional markets will also be set up at Lehtrar Road, Sultana Foundation, Sangjhani and Japan Road.

Officials said all six sites would become operational from May 10. Deputy Commissioner Islamabad directed concerned departments to complete arrangements related to parking, sanitation and security at all market locations before the start of operations.

The administration has also ordered continuous monitoring to ensure facilities remain available for traders and visitors throughout the Eid season. Officials said complaints regarding overcharging beyond the notified government fee structure would be addressed immediately. The district administration warned market contractors and management teams against collecting extra charges from animal sellers or transporters.
